GOAT YOGA TREND COMES TO NORTHERN VA
Liberty Lorton Hosts Latest Fitness Trend
Goat yoga has been a big craze around the nation with classes popping up all over northern Virginia
. Liberty, a new development in Lorton Virginia, has been hosting a series of community events from outdoor movie nights to Turkey Trots to goat yoga.
How does goat yoga work? The class is taught like any other yoga practice, but with baby goats who have free reign to interact with attendees. These gentle animals are a great addition to fitness classes because they are curious animals, they don’t require a bond to snuggle up with you, and they not shy about climbing on humans. Interaction with animals can help reduce blood pressure, improve overall cardiovascular health, and also release endorphins that produce a calming effect.
Liberty Lorton, the former prison, located in Fairfax County, will be hosting pop up classes throughout the year
. Attendees can look forward to an hour of yoga practice followed by playtime with the baby goats.
Liberty is a new urban village in Lorton, Virginia, that has transformed the Lorton Reformatory, a property on the National Register of Historic Places, into a modern and vibrant community hub where residents and visitors live, work, shop and thrive.
Liberty also hosts a series of events open to the entire Lorton community — from outdoor movie nights to goat yoga to an annual turkey trot.
